Sunlumo wins Upper Austrian Energy Globe

On Monday 31st May in Kremsmünster Sunlumo won the Upper Austrian Energy Globe in the category sustainable plastics with its One World Solar Collector made of plastic.

The expert jury were impressed with the innovative One World Solar Collector’s superior affordability and environmental friendliness compared to conventional collectors, as well as being the foundation and key component for a complete, cost-efficient solar system. It enables low-cost off-grid systems that are affordable for everyone. Solar systems made of plastic are particularly interesting for emerging and developing countries that cannot afford the current high-priced products. The cost-efficient mass production of these collectors could also cover the increased worldwide need for solar collector surfaces.

With this award Sunlumo qualifies as a candidate for the Energy Globe 2016. On 5th June the winners from 177 countries will be presented. The awards ceremony takes place on 7th June in the Energie AG’s PowerTower in Linz. Since 1999 the Energy Globe has been acknowledging outstanding projects worldwide that demonstrate possibilities for optimising energy efficiency, the conservation of resources and the use of renewable energy. It is the world’s biggest and most important environmental award.

The Upper Austrian Energy Globe is further acknowledgement of Sunlumo’s research and development work. Last year the One World Solar Collector was awarded with the Solar Keymark certificate and won the German national Ecodesign award.
